TRICK OR TREAT - COSTUME FAIR 2008!!!
I would like to take this final opportunity to thank all the vendors and volunteers who came together to make the 2008 Trick Or Treat Costume Fair a success.
The list of individuals to thank is huge, the vendors for entering into the spirit of the event, the judges who looked at the costumes and helped decide the winners of the “best in” categories, the visitors who’s generosity helped make a great final total for the charity and last but not least the people who gave their time, freely, to help and guide visitors, put on the fashion shows and "be there" when needed.
Without all the help it would have been impossible to get this event off the ground and running smoothly. That's not to say there were not issues and a great deal of hard work but on the whole people did understand the reasons for the small number of "rules" associated with the fair. We thank them for that.
How do you measure the success of an event such as this? It could be the traffic, often over 40, 000. It could be the sales of individual vendors or positive feedback from visitors and creators alike. The fashion shows were well attended and the comments made during were positive and enthusiastic. But in this instance we would like to measure the success in terms of the benefit to the chosen charity, UNICEF and on that note I would like to announce that the final figure donated was $803.00 (that's $219,686 L.)
All of the funds raised from the 5L$ pumpkins and all of the funds raised from the "peoples choice" went towards this total along with any other donations made around the fair. No costs for the fair, the land rental, builds etc. were deducted.
Feedback we have received has been welcome. We hope to take the positive suggestions with us as we plan for next years fair. If you would like to contribute to the 2009 Trick or Treat costume fair, as a vendor, a volunteer or in any capacity at all then please email Austie Pegler at austie@reasonabledesires.com.
